Defining telecoms growth: Geographic expansion and adjacent markets
Thankfully, 2010 has borne witness to a turnaround in telecoms M&A and debt transactions, thanks to big-ticket deals such as Bharti’s acquisition of Zain Africa, Telefónica’s purchase of Portugal Telecom’s stake in Vivo and CVC’s leveraged buyout of Sunrise. With regional heavyweights Etisalat and Vimpelcom seeking to flex their muscles even further through agreed tie-ups with Zain and Orascom respectively, 2011 too should shape up to be a busy year.
However, geographic expansion is not the only means to growth. Many operators are bulking up by moving into adjacent sectors such as eHealth, content and IT, or by focusing on fixed-mobile convergence and the enterprise market.
Join us again this year to debate the best growth strategies for the year ahead with a who’s who of C-level telecoms executives, top-ranking investment bankers, corporate lawyers, consultants and private equity professionals. We look forward to seeing you there!
It's the first telecom conference where I have actually learned something and that has given me valuable insights.
